New management and a new vision ALTAV

New management brings a new vision.

About a year ago, a new management team took over in Alanya, bringing in valuable individuals expected to introduce a fresh vision for the city.

One of the most significant changes occurred within the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV), which plays a crucial role in shaping decisions that will affect Alanya’s future, particularly given that the city’s main source of income is tourism. Under the leadership of Mr. Özçelik, Alanya’s new visionary president, a new management team was established. Notably, Mr. Abdurahman Açıkalın, a highly regarded figure in Alanya, was appointed as the manager of the Alanya Promotion Foundation, serving as an advisor to the Alanya Municipality mayor.

Initially, a consensus was built among key stakeholders in Alanya. The foundation emphasised the need for basic cooperation with the city’s most influential non-governmental organizations (NGOs), focusing on working together for the benefit of Alanya. These organizations include ALTID, ALTSO, and TURSAB. ALTAV emerged as a unifying umbrella organization known for its exemplary coordination and swift decision-making, setting a standard for similar organizations across Turkey.

Collaboration and the creation of a shared vision

ALTAV, under the leadership of Mr. Açıkalın and in collaboration with a dynamic team and various stakeholder institutions, has begun to actively implement its vision. The primary goal is to establish sustainable tourism policies that prioritize environmental care and extend tourism throughout the entire year.

At the start of the new year, ALTAV organized a breakfast meeting for the first time in Alanya’s history, held at KAILA Beach Hotel, with wide participation. During this meeting, they announced all national and international events planned for 2025, which represent a new vision for tourism in the region. These events were carefully prepared and communicated to the public in advance, providing valuable information for guests planning their holidays in Alanya.

Travel Fairs

The target countries for the new tourism vision were selected, and Alanya was represented at significant tourism fairs. Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik, along with ALTAV board members, ALTSO Board Chairman Mr. Eray Erdem, and ALTID Board Chairman Mr. Burhan Sili, attended these events. The representation began in London and continued in Helsinki and Denmark. After these events, Alanya (ALTAV) will participate in the ITB Berlin fair, where it will have a prominent and attractive stand.

During these fairs, important meetings took place with tourism professionals who bring visitors to Alanya. The new vision for Alanya was presented to various travel companies, and they were assured that all necessary support would be provided.

Sister Cities

Altav and the new administration prioritize Alanya’s sister city relationships. The mayor’s team, along with ALTAV members, actively participate in events related to these sister cities. They are also invited to events held in both the sister cities and Alanya. This collaboration helps diversify Alanya’s promotional activities.

Musical sounds.

The Alanya Jazz Festival have been a symbolic event for nearly 20 years. This jazz festival has expanded beyond the main stage to various venues throughout the city, becoming a part of everyday life. During the jazz festival, you can discover incredible performances in unexpected locations. Alanya is transforming in this regard, with music events now taking place in historical sites similar to those along the shores of Lake Como. The blend of history and music is evident in these events, which reflect a new perspective and vision for the city.

Capital of Sports

Alanya is on track to become a leading sports tourism destination in Türkiye and around the world. Numerous significant international sports events have been held here to date, including triathlons, mountain bike races, Ocean Man competitions, city bike challenges, and ultra marathons. Recently, Alanya achieved a milestone by securing an agreement to host one leg of the World Beach Pro Tour challenge for four years. This event will take place from June 12 to June 15 and will feature 64 elite teams from around the globe.

The competition will be held on the beach in Oba, which boasts the largest beach volleyball court in the world and the largest in Europe, constructed with real sand. This court, akin to a temple for beach volleyball, includes a main court with a capacity of 1,800 spectators, a second court for 1,000 spectators, and 26 additional game courts.

In this versatile sports complex, a variety of activities will be hosted, including beach volleyball, beach handball, and beach football.

Additionally, the Beach Handball European Championship will be organized on the same court from July 3 to July 13.

Do you think Alanya is becoming a hub for sports? Achieving this requires collaboration and a shared vision.

As the last point, I’d like to express how much I’m enjoying being part of ALTAV. I am completing my tasks for my hometown while helping it become a leading holiday destination in the world. I am confident we will achieve this. Please continue to follow our progress.
